North Carolina
Okay, so now I'm in North Carolina. I've completed 1 state.... only 13 to go! It's starting to get a little weird because everyone is starting to break into groups. There's a group of hikers called the "Ragamuffins" and the Rainbow Children ... you get the idea. So one night in the shelter, Spliff says we should form our own group. I say "great idea... we can call ourselves team fuck you!" And so team F.Y. is born... Grumpy Squat, Spliff, T-max and I. For days everyone is asking "What does team F.Y mean?"
A Couple of days into North Carolina, I meet Icculus (Icky). He's hiking with the "Ragamuffins" so of course I think he's a homo. We keep ending up at the same place for a couple of days. One day, I watched him mercilessly tool on this girl because she wouldn't leave him alone. He's got a quick wit and when he really gets going, he says some truly evil stuff. I like him immediately. He will make a great addition to team F.Y.
We stayed in a fire tower one night... from left to right... Icky, Boo, Huma, Grumpy Squat, T-max, L.T., me, Spliff and Greenhorn. Icky and I played an intense game of war and I won a Cheeseburger! (I collected at Mountain Mama's)
On May 1st, my wife Lori (above) meets me at Mountain Mama's to pick me up for a wedding I have to go to. She takes one look at me and starts crying. She says I'm getting to skinny and I smell like a homeless person. This is my first clue she wants me to come home. I've only been gone for 28 days!
Here's Lori and I at max patch... right after the wedding I'm back for more hiking fun. I'm now a couple of days behind Icky and the rest of the crew... Luckily, they all got lazy and stayed in Hot Springs for a couple of days.
Nice huh? Just another day in the mountains.
