Tennessee

Another state to conquer! It's early May and everything is going good. No problems with my gear, and no problems with my feet. So why are we only averaging 8 miles a day? Because were goofing off of course! Icky and I are playing a lot of Frisbee. Every time we plan a town stop, we make sure we can stay to watch the Simpson's.

Here we are looking down on Erwin. At this point, Icky and I are ready to jump off this mountain into the river. Were just about out of food and water. We've walked 16 miles already and it's only 2:00 pm. All we can think about is pizza, chocolate milk and the Simpson's. I'm so hungry at this point, I dump a packet of instant breakfast in to my mouth. Icky has some Ramen noodles (uncooked) with a little peanut butter. We make it to Uncle Johnny's hostel.

Every year, there is a big hiker party called Trail Days held in Damascus Virginia. Usually, no matter where you are on the trail, you try and get there. Quicksilver picked up Icky, grumpy Squat and I at Roan MT and gave us a ride. He was with this maniac names Cletus. (I still don't know if it's his real name.) here's some more pics....

here's Quicksilver.

From left to right.... Kodiak, Cletus, me, Icky, Grumpy Squat, Quicksilver, T-max, Tiki, Spliff.

Here's another, this time with Gypsy and Boo on the end.

Here's Huma Saying "hi."

A shot of Boo and Kodiak.
So Trail days was real cool and afterwards Boo, Icky, Grumpy Squat and I headed back to Roan MT and stayed at the Kinkora hostel. Bob (The guy who ran the hostel) slack packed us (hiking without a back pack) for a couple of days. We were headed back to Damascus. Grump Squat got real sick at the hostel so Spliff, Boo, Icky and I went on. When we crossed into Virginia at the end of a 24 mile day we had hiked until 11:00 pm. That was our biggest day to date. The new star wars movie was our motivation!
